Celebrating the life of

Dr. Lester Eugene Robertson

April 23, 1932 - August 18, 2025

Dr. Lester Eugene Robertson

Lester Eugene Robertson, MD, FAFP, died peacefully at age 93 on August 18, 2025. He was preceded by his beloved wife of 64 years Mary Katherine Miller Robertson on February 28, 2022.

Dr. Gene was born in Waco Texas on April 23, 1932, to Lester Earl and Lily Faye Robertson. He attended Waco high school and Baylor University. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and interned at the Jeff Davis hospital in Houston. After practicing medicine in Dallas for two years, he moved to McGregor Texas, where he and his brother Dr. Carroll served the community including house calls for almost 4 decades. Additionally, the two brothers established the 100 bed Westview Manor Nursing Home and the first Alzheimer’s care unit in the region.

Dr. Gene possessed a thirst for knowledge. Rising before sunrise everyday he reviewed medical literature, read the Bible in its entirety three times and amassed over 400 lecture series from The Teaching Company including many that he’d reviewed more than once. Beyond learning, golf was his lifelong passion playing iconic courses from Saint Andrews in Scotland to Hawaii to Waco. He followed Baylor University and Dallas Cowboy football with fervor and loyalty. He eventually retired at age 65 to Salado, Texas where he and Mary abided overlooking hole number 5 at Mill Creek.

His survivors include his son, LE Bud Robertson MD, FACP, his daughter-in-law, Deirdre Robertson; his grandson, Christian Robertson, MD, his wife Chantal Robertson, his great grandson Kip; his granddaughter Anna Robertson; his grandson Miles Robertson, his wife, Olivia Robertson; niece, Laurie Robertson, and nephew, Bill Robertson.

A memorial service will be held at Skidaway Island Methodist Church on October 11, at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salado United Methodist Church or the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco, Texas — both organizations close to his heart.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pam Gaudry, Thrive, Comfort Keepers, and Hospice Savannah for their compassionate service during this final chapter.

And if you ever hear thunder rolling across the sky, just smile — it’s Dr. Gene teeing off in heaven and scoring another hole-in-one.
